This crisis turned into a non-event!

There I was, safely ensconsed at Las Olas, thanks to Arturo's intervention and the competence of the Vincents' staff: Omar and Rosario. It was such a relief to be there exhausted as I was after all the intense preparation, which I couldn't have accomplished without the help of Pablo Peres, our administrator, and Cruz, my pool and garden tender. After a few hours however, I began to think" "Where is the huricane?" The sky stayed bright, there was none of the sudden clouding up and big winds that preceded Kenna. I even walked around the community, strangely silent and boarded up. Yes, plywood covered the windows at Tambien. It was clear that what had happened to Myra's little house was not to happen again! I noticved that Blas and his crew were still working on Kathy's patio and that Mindy and her guests had not left. Where was this John? Who had any news? Finally Arturo called to say John had passed us by and was headed for Cabo. Poor Cabo, I guess it's due to hit today. Anyway, whether it was Mindy's mantras, Pablo's mother's prayers from Columbia, the geo-physical oceanic conditions or all of the above, we are safe. Most of us arel leaving the defense systems in place, at least through September. But all is well. Come back!

Huricane John

So we in Pdb got lucky and avoided any catastrophy. Then again only one in 60 cyclones have caused any problems for us residents in the Punta Mita area according to Brock Squire. He attributes this to the Sierra Madres mountains to the south that protect the bay of banderas. Once again this natural barrier did its thing and broke up the storm turning it into a cat2 huricane and completely passed us by. As for the prep work? Better safe than sorry!
